Around 9,000 families have been adversely hit by inclement weather brought on by Typhoon Julian, necessitating the evacuation of some 90 families throughout the Cordillera region, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Ninety families or 237 individuals throughout the region had to evacuate to 15 evacuation centers region-wide as a result of the inclement weather. Another 193 families or 646 people had to flee to relatives’ or friends’ homes, with a total of 883 evacuees reported throughout the region.

While roads had to be closed due to damage and soil collapse throughout the region, with multiple access roads particularly in Apayao province having shut down, only 10 houses have been reported damaged, with two completely destroyed.

According to the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the Philippine Red Cross, several vehicles were buried under debris alongside the destroyed homes, but no injuries or casualties have been reported.

However, one individual went missing in Abra province.

According to the DSWD, about P108.09 million worth of relief items and P2.9 million in quick response funds are ready for immediate disposition.
