A series of landslides along major national roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have caused temporary closures, with Kennon Road having closed indefinitely for clearing and repair operations.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the order, contained in a memo, would ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and residents in the area and shall “remain in effect until suspended.”

Landslides also struck the national roads Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road in Tuba, Benguet; the Baguio-Bauang Road specifically at Sablan, Benguet, and the Benguet-Vizcaya Road in Pito proper, Bokod, Benguet.

However, as of Wednesday this week, said national roads have been cleared and are once again two-way passable.

Landslides also struck the smaller roads in Km. 48 in Atok along with Kilometer 49 and 46 of the Baguio-Bontoc Road; the Lipucan, Poblacion, Palina, Tabbac, and Nangayangan-Nalicob-Masala portions of the Bado Dangwa Road; and the Amburayan-Boneng road in Kapangan.

Additionally, some road sections in Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province and Kalinga are either not passable, punch through open, one-way passable or with limited access.
