THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has dispatched volunteers and its trainees to help prepare public schools for the opening of classes on Aug. 29 as part of the the Department of Education’s ongoing “Brigada Eskwela.”

Jimmicio Daoaten, TESDA-Cordillera assistant regional director and concurrent Abra provincial director, said that the effort will also double as on-the-job training for scholar-trainees in the field of construction.

“There are already some schools divisions of the DepEd in the Cordillera who have asked for assistance and we are responding to the call for help,” Daoaten said.

Daoaten assured that even though the trainees are not yet fully-fledged professionals and are still undergoing their “training-cum-production” efforts, they will be supervised by instructors to ensure that the repairs and constructions that they implement will be up to standards of quality and safety.

“They are supervised by their instructors to assure the quality of the job aside from the safety of the would-be occupants of the structure,” Daoaten said.

He also added that this is not the first time the TESDA-CAR has sent out its workers to aid in public service, noting that in the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Abra this year the agency also sent out volunteer trainees and instructors alike to aid in recovery efforts.
