THE Department of Health – Cordillera (DOH-CAR) in partnership with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) launched on June 26 at the BGHMC Garden.

a new vaccine for the COVID-19 disease that targets multiple variants of the virus at once.

The new bivalent COVID booster jabs, currently slated for use by the city’s healthcare worker and senior citizen population, develop immune responses not only against the most common COVID-19 strain, but also against two different Omicron variants of the disease.

Dr. Shelly Aral, Medical Officer IV of the DOH-CAR, encouraged the eligible healthcare workers and senior citizens who have already received their second booster to also get their third bivalent booster.

“By strengthening our wall of immunity through updating our protection, we can help limit the virus from infecting others towards full economic recovery”, Dr. Aral said.

Currently, only 11,760 doses have been distributed for Baguio City being one of the areas with the highest COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the Cordilleras.

But the DOH-CAR will be rolling out more in the future as supplies increase.

DOH-CAR, in partnership with the Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) launched the COVID-19 Pfizer bivalent vaccine on June 27, 2023, at the CHSO, Baguio City.
