As the SIM Registration period has been extended until July 25, PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) continues to intensify its call for customers to register their SIMs to help prevent text scams and mobile phone-aided criminal activities.

Through its ‘Mag-SIM Reg para hindi SIM Dead’ campaign, Smart reminds customers to register their SIM and warns them about all the hassles the come with failing to register one’s SIM, which results in permanent SIM deactivation or the so-called ‘SIM dead’ situation.

Avoid SIM-dead hassles

SIM dead or a deactivated SIM means no outgoing and incoming calls, no sending and receiving messages, no internet access, and forfeited load balances.

With your   SIM dead, you won’t be able to receive one-time passwords (OTPs) for your banking apps or mobile wallets, and therefore won’t be able to access or use your savings and wallet credits.

SIM dead also means you won’t be able to access all the apps linked to your mobile number like your social media apps, messaging apps, and delivery apps, or recover a forgotten password linked to your mobile number.

“Our smartphone has become an extension of ourselves, and failing to register our SIM will cut us off from the many technological conveniences that enable us to live more today. This is why we encourage all our customers to register their Smart and TNT SIMs ahead of the July 25 deadline,” said Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business – Individual at Smart.

Register your Smart and TNT SIMs now

Smart, along with its value mobile brand TNT, continues to lead in SIM Registration efforts in the country with 39.9 million registered subscribers as of April 25.

To make the process more convenient and accessible to as many Filipinos as possible, Smart has spent the past few months rolling out assisted SIM Registration booths at malls nationwide, far-flung municipalities and key remote areas in coordination with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the local government units (LGUs), the inter-agency committee in remote areas, and other public telecommunications entities.

If you are a Smart Prepaid or TNT customer, simply visit http://www.smart.com.ph/simreg or log into the GigaLife App to register your SIM.

If you are a Smart Postpaid customer, you are already considered registered based on the latest advice of DICT.

On the other hand, if you are Smart Bro subscriber, you can proceed with SIM Registration by accessing your one-time password following these steps: http://www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms.
