THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has pegged the damage to property caused by the five-hour fire in Blocks 3 and 4 of the Baguio Public Market to be around P40 million.

Antonette Anaban, CDRRMO officer-in-charge, said the estimated damage cost to the structures including depreciation cost was set at P27 million, the burned vehicle of the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) at P1.49 million, damaged goods at P10.8 million, damaged power lines at P72, 000 and the damaged perimeter streetlights installed by the City Engineering Office (CEO) at P104,000 or a total estimated damage of P39.8 million.

In addition, the fire forcing the pause of operations for many of the vendors has led to P6.15 million worth of lost revenue both for the vendors who could not operate and the government failing to collect arrival fees due to the stoppage of operations.

Additionally, the city saw P8.375 million worth of expenses in the efforts to relocate the vendors and reestablish stalls in the site.

For the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), some P14.1 million was distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
