CLAIM: Pastor Quiboloy has surpassed NBA great Wilt Chamberlain scoring 112 points in one game
RATING: FALSE
Comparing that December 18 game to an NBA game is like comparing it to a barangay basketball shootout.
FACTS: On December 11, Apollo Quiboloy reportedly scored 92 points for ACQ All-Star in a game against ACQ Selection.

The next Sunday, Quiboloy scored 119 points to beat the ACQ Selection, 136-96.
On December 18, Quiboloy trumpeted his record that he beat the great NBA center Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks on that fateful night of March 2, 1962.
News5 even reported Quiboloy’s feat.

Comparing himself to Chamberlain will raise a lot of eyebrows. In fact, not one of the major sports outfits mentioned that event.
NBA is way above our standards that no Philippine-born Filipino made it to the exclusive league. Some FIlipino-American players have made it since the 1970s though.
If ever there is a Filipino who made it to the scoring records, it would be the great Lou Salvador.
Internationally, the highest single player total between national teams is 116 points, scored by the Philippines’ Lou Salvador in May 1923 against China. It happened during the 1923 Far Eastern Games. (Bocobo, Christian and Celis, Beth. 2004. Legends and Heroes of Philippine Basketball)
If you watch the ACQ All Stars – ACQ Selection games, you would notice that there was no defense imposed on Quiboloy. It was technically a shootout exhibition for him.
That he is 72 years old and can still shoot at the three-point range is enough achievement. Let us not succumb to self-glorification though.
