Claim: Rizal is of British royalty and lived for 113 years
Rating: FALSE
Facts: This is a no-brainer but these fantastic claims lead us to the root of the tall tale that bred a lot of claims about Marcos Sr. and Rizal.
The old Taga-Calamba website composed of stories, legends, and stories about the town and their most illustrious citizen, Jose Rizal, has old stories of fake news about the Great Malayan.
Two of these are “Rizal Lived to be 113” and “Rizal is of British Royalty.”
Although these should be taken with a grain of Himalayan salt, it leads us to the article that started it all. Both articles cited “The Mystery of the Barclay Account,” which had these stories and more.

This article also mentioned the beginnings of the Tallano gold and how Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was the lawyer in charge of the huge hoard.
The Taga-Calamba site is the reincarnation as the article may have been repeatedly flagged.
But since the two Taga-Calamba stories were written in 2016, it bolsters the theory that disinformation was made early on in preparation for the Marcos candidacy.
Why we fact-checked this: Fact-checking started fairly recently, compared to the disinformation campaign which started seven to six years ago. Even if the election has ended, the fact-checking should still go on to end this vicious cycle.

Note: Facebook does not allow the links to the Taga-Calamba website, but these may be searched on Google using the claim as your search words.
