Claim: Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is mass hiring
Rating: FALSE
A Facebook group entitled “DSWD NEWS AND UPDATES” (previously named “DSWD Educational Assistance Update”) with 215,000 members previously posted that DSWD is using mass hiring as a form of public aid.

In DSWD’s official Facebook page, they dismissed the post as fake news and reiterated that they are not mass hiring. They reminded the public that they are not affiliated with the “DSWD NEWS AND UPDATES” (previously named “DSWD Educational Assistance Update”) Facebook group in any way and urged the public to be careful when clicking any links to avoid being scammed. DSWD’s official social media handle is @dswdserves and their official website can be visited at https://www.dswd.gov.ph.
Aside from the “DSWD NEWS AND UPDATES” (previously named “DSWD Educational Assistance Update”), there are also other unofficial Facebook groups named “DSWD EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE UPDATE” and “DSWD EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE UPDATES” with 50,000 and 15,000 members respectively that are possibly posting unverified information about cash aids.
Why we fact-checked this: According to ABS-CBN, some of these groups are asking members to “register” so that they can receive cash-aid from DSWD.

Information entered in the ‘registration links’ can be potentially used maliciously in various scams like identity theft and unauthorized money transfers.
