NATIONAL Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reports on Tuesday, November 1, indicate that the recent October 25 magnitude 6.4 earthquake that hit Abra province has dealt some P85 million worth of damage to infrastructure.
The NDRRMC report indicates that 251 infrastructure objects were hit, along with some 13,446 houses. The infrastructure damage tally includes health facilities, as well as several churches, barangay halls, schools, roads and other government facilities.
In total, the quake affected some 115,000 individuals from Regions 1, 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). However, only 23 families or 79 individuals remain in three evacuation centers across the hit areas, with 398 other families or 1,203 people displaced but remaining in temporary shelter elsewhere.
To date, only P2.4 million worth of assistance to the quake-hit victims has been provided.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a total of 1,039 aftershocks of the quake ranging from magnitudes 1.3 to 4.8 as of Tuesday morning.
Only 417 aftershocks were plotted while 26 were felt. Plotted quakes, as disclosed by Phivolcs earlier, were detected by three or more stations. Recorded earthquakes, on the other hand, were logged by at least one seismic station.
