THE start of the week saw some 31 new COVID-19 cases in a single day, keeping the city’s active case total above three digits for the second week in a row.
The city also saw six reinfections or individuals who had previously caught COVID-19 and caught it again.
However, Rowena Galpo, head of the City Health Services Office (CHSO), said that the city remains at low-risk status despite the ongoing increase in COVID-19 incidence in Baguio.
According to Galpo, the city’s positivity rate or the number of positive test results out of all tests conducted is 4.48 percent, while the case growth rate or the change from the previous period of observation was at a whopping 116 percent as of the first week of July, indicating a doubling of case count from the middle of June..
As of Tuesday, the city has 121 total active cases. However, only one of the cases is moderate severity, with 33 being mild infections and four being asymptomatic.
Healthcare utilization remains on the low end in the city even with the case counts, with non-intensive care unit (ICU) bed utilization at 13.13 percent and ICU bed utilization at 15.91 percent, for a total utilization rate of 13.46 percent.
