Claim: PCOO Chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles claimed that the 7th and 8th commandments were “made up by pinklawans”.
Rating: SATIRE
This post claims that the Presidential Communications Operations Office Chief stated in a press conference that the 7th and 8th commandments — “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not bear false witness”, respectively — were “made up by pinklawans”. This post is both false and satirical.
The Facts: There was no mention of the 7th and 8th Commandments during the Press Briefing of the Press Secretary. In the recording of the press conference posted on July 4, 2022, by the official account of RTVMalacanang, Trixie Cruz-Angeles made no such claims as stated in the post.

On July 3, 2022, the Superficial Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines page made the post with an image that includes the tags “#SatireNews” “#Parody”, and “#SatireNewsPH” which already informs users that the posts are not factual.

On July 4, 2022, the Superficial Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines wrote, “SATIRE news po ito. Parody at patawa, hindi fake news at disinformation kagaya ng gawin ng Marcos-Duterte. Pero nakakabahala na masyado nang madami ang napapaniwala dito.” clarifying that the post was not true and was only meant to be a joke.

Why we fact-checked this: The post has reached 16,000 reactions, 1,400 comments, and 7,700 shares on Facebook. Satirical posts such as this may cause widespread misinformation among the gullible.
