Claim: Aquinos responsible for selling land, uses West Philippine sea as Dumpsite (Panambak)
Rating: FALSE
In a Tiktok video later reposted on FaceBook, BBM defender claimed in a news interview that the Aquino administration is responsible for selling Philippine land to foreign investors.
In the video, they stated “binenta pala tayo” in reference to several disputes regarding the West Philippine Sea.

This is false and was already debunked by Rappler. The facts are that China has not given any official confirmation if the Aquino Administration has sold Scarborough Shoal. This is highly improbable as under Pres. Benigno Aquino III, the Philippines filed an arbitration case against China before an arbitral tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands, in January 2013.

Another claim which lacks context was that former Sen. Antonio Trillanes worked through back channels and sold Philippine territory to China. This claim lacks context because former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales dismissed the treason and espionage allegations against former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Trillanes in 2017 on the grounds that China’s “hostilities and aggressiveness” cannot be ascribed to the 2012 backchannel negotiations. This was aldo brought out duting the campaign period to besmirch Trillanes.
