Claim: The number of votes do not match the number of registered voters.
Rating: FALSE
In a now deleted tweet posted by theater personality Audie Gemora on May 24, which garnered 3,484 likes and over 800 retweets and quote retweets, he claims that there is an inconsistency between the number of votes and number of registered voters.
The post states, “Total bumoto= 52, 952, 206. Actual botante sa bansa= 43, 331, 229. Galing sa ibang Planeta= 9, 620, 977”.
The last remark reopens the long-time suspicion out that there could possibly be over nine million ghost voters that may have affected the election.

This is not true as far as COMELEC is concerned, as their records show that there are 67.4 million registered voters for this year’s election. 172 out of 173 certificates of canvass indicated a turnout of 82.6% or 55.5 million Filipinos who were able to exercise their right to vote.

Although this is high compared to other presidential elections and with the COVID specter still around, it is possible, according to Comelec.
