BAGUIO City and the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) have lined up assistance for the municipalities and cities hit by Typhoon Odette.

Baguio City, for its part, has committed P5 million in financial assistance to 44 hit municipalities and cities, through an ordinance allocating the amount from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office’s (CDRRMO) Quick Response Fund of the city’s 2021 annual budget.

The local finance committee already issued a certificate of availability of funds for the financial aid.

Meanwhile, the CDRRMC has started to put in place a plan for the greater Cordillera region to organize support for affected places in Visayas and Mindanao.

Dubbed OPLAN “Binnadang,” the CRDRRMC Response Cluster chaired by Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Arnel Garcia has worked to collate support and assistance that the local governments and DRRM Councils in the region can provide to the typhoon-stricken areas.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Cordillera office (DSWD-CAR) said that 11,000 family food packs, 8,000 pieces of malong, 50 rolls of laminated sacks and 200 pieces of collapsible water container are available, with another 10,000 food packs in the procurement process.

Initial commitments from the DSWD-CAR pegged 7,000 FFPs that will be hauled from its satellite warehouse in Abra.

A donation desk for Oplan Binnadang is set up at the DSWD – CAR Regional Office along North Drive.
