FORMER Baguio Chronicle reporter Ernie Olson Jr. died Wednesday afternoon after succumbing to cardiac arrest. He was 62.
Olson was a practicing journalist for 30 years, starting as the first news writer of ABS-CBN Northern Luzon.
He later transferred to Daily Vibrations.
He continued his media journey as a reporter for Sun-Star Baguio before transferring to the Baguio Chronicle in 2009 where he was one of its pioneers, together with Adam Borja, Larry Madarang, and Joyce Navarro.
He laid low for a while and returned to writing for the Baguio Chronicle in 2017 until 2019.
Olson attended highschool at SLU Boys High School and went to college initially at Silliman University and later at the University of Baguio.
Olson also played some bit roles for movies made in Baguio.
He was also a member of the Society of Outstanding Citizens of Baguio.
He is survived by his mother and three children.
According to one of his sons, Olson was swabbed after death and tested negative for COVID-19.
